My road to motherhood was what I would describe as a rough one.
We had tried just about everything to get pregnant and had just experienced the difficult loss of another pregnancy a few months before.
What started as joy quickly changed. At 5 weeks along, I was told that my baby had passed away.
To hear those words…
How do we cope with the loss of another baby? Heartbreaking does not begin to describe it. Feeling all of the emotions that happen with this incredible loss we went to the next appointment for an ultrasound before the removal of our baby. We were filled with both sadness and anxiety.
However, all of this sadness turned to joy when they found our baby’s heartbeat! What did you say? We have a healthy, thriving baby! Our baby is alive. Tears of sadness replaced by tears of joy and love!
Moving forward … was a rough one, however.
During my pregnancy, I lost over 50 pounds. I had both gestational diabetes and hypertension. It was both mentally and physically tolling.
Fast forward to when we were ready to deliver our baby. Induced with Pitocin I tried for 3 days to give birth vaginally, only reaching 5 cm, my cervix swelled. After all that time in labor, we had to do an emergency c-section.
To say this pregnancy was filled with extreme anxiety is an understatement. It was both a physically and mentally challenging period of our lives. With the help of my husband, I overcame so much in my journey into motherhood.
To all the moms out there who may be experiencing difficult times like these, my advice to you is to keep moving forward. No matter what we went through, no matter how difficult, the end result is/was amazing. Holding in our arms, our beautiful baby boy.
Taylor, Jesse, and their beautiful healthy baby Jeremy reside in Virginia. They delivered at Bon Secours St. Mary’s Hospital in Richmond.
Erin Metcalf, their photographer, loved their blanket and used their gifts as props for the backdrop. She went on to say this family was very sweet. It was an honor to capture their first photos.
Erin has been with Bella Baby since 2015. In her words… “I have had the privilege of photographing more than 2800 babies in the hospital! Getting to meet all these families and capture these special moments is the best job ever!”
