Goodbye summer, hello fall! As we welcome October, we are excited to bring you the winners of the August 2026 installment of our monthly photography contest.

When we asked our winners to tell us a little bit about the moments behind their winning images Veronica told us, “I always try and incorporate parents even if they don’t want to be in pictures. Using mom or dad’s hands is the perfect solution.” Hear that parents? If being on camera isn’t for you, we’d still love to include you in the session. This adorable moment is just one of many ways you can get in on the fun of their first photos, even if it’s just your hands.
If Veronica’s name sounds familiar, that’s because you just saw one of her photos featured here as an Honorable Mention last month. This month, she takes the top prize. Great work, Veronica!
Here’s another adorable moment captured by Laurel Albrecht! Laurel won 1st prize a few months ago in our May contest and this month she takes 2nd with this precious daddy-daughter snuggle.
We also asked Laurel for some behind-the-scenes information about this photo and here’s what she said: “The baby had been perfect for the whole session and she seemed to really like the tummy pose we ended on in the basket so when we moved to family photos, I just transferred her straight from the basket to dad’s arms and she settled in perfectly.” When working with newborns, comfort is everything. We admire Laurel’s eye for capturing the beautiful moments in this little one’s first days with the poses that kept her feeling comfortable through the transitional moments.
